Two Ghanaian women who were kidnapped in Nigeria after they fell victim to an online romance scam have been rescued, the Ghana Police Service has confirmed from where they were being held hostage in Nigeria. The victims, Anastasia Badoo Atta and Evelyn Serwaa Konadu, were lured to Nigeria on April 22, 2025, after they were deceived by criminals posing as white men on Facebook who promised to marry them. The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has warned Ghanaians not to take, store or share nude images or videos of themselves on electronic devices, as these could be used by cybercriminals for blackmail and sextortion. “Avoid sharing intimate content with strangers online, even if they seem trustworthy. A mobile money (MoMo) vendor named Christopher Ahordo was shot dead by armed robbers at Gbagblakope near the Diamond Cement Factory in Aflao, located in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region.
