A pastor of the Deeper Life Church, James Tawiah, tragically lost his life at Amantin in the Mpohor Fiase Municipality of the Western Region after a 350-litre water storage tank fell on his vehicle.

According to reports, the sorrowful incident which occurred on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, Pastor Tawiah was on his way to Manso to preach, where he met his doom. His vehicle suddenly stopped midway while climbing a steep hill. Struggling to regain control, the car rolled backward at speed, crashing into a structure that supported a large 350-litre water storage tank.

In a desperate attempt to maneuver, the pastor mistakenly left the gear in reverse, which caused the vehicle to accelerate sharply downhill. The impact against the stand was so forceful that it dislodged the tank. In a split second, the heavy container toppled onto the vehicle, crushing it and killing Pastor Tawiah instantly.

Assembly Member for Manso, Mr. Emmanuel Ndur, confirmed the incident. He said the pastor had been determined to reach his congregation that day, only for tragedy to strike in such a bizarre and devastating manner.

The shocking news has thrown the entire community into mourning. Residents who gathered at the scene were left speechless, describing the death as not only sudden but deeply painful. Many expressed sorrow over the loss of a man known for his dedication to preaching the gospel and serving his church faithfully.

Pastor Tawiah’s body was later taken to the Tarkwa mortuary, while police have launched investigations to understand the full circumstances behind the incident.
