    Police Confirm Salifu Amoako As Suspect In East Legon Accident

    The Ghana Police Service has named Salifu Amoako as the suspect behind the gory accident that occurred over the weekend at East Legon in the capital city of the country, leading to the death of two innocent persons.

    The Police Service mentioned Salifu Amoako as the person who was driving the white Jaguar said to have been on top speed which rammed into another vehicle resulting in explosive fire and burnt beyond recognition.

    The statement from the Police further stated that, the suspect and other victims who survived the incident are currently receiving medical attention, adding that, bodies of the two deceased have been deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy.

    The Police statement reads in full, “The Ghana Police Service has commenced investigation into an accident that occurred on Saturday, 12th October 2024, at East Legon in Accra, leading to the death of two persons. Preliminary Police investigation indicates that the suspect driver, identified as Salifu Amoako, rammed his vehicle into another vehicle on Dzanie Ashie Street at East Legon. Both vehicles caught fire and burnt beyond recognition.

    “The suspect driver and other surviving victims are currently receiving medical attention. Meanwhile, one of the surviving victims has since been treated and discharged, while the bodies of the deceased victims have been deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy.”

    Meanwhile, the school attended by the deceased persons named Cornerstone International Academy has announced a one week break from school activities to help mourn with the bereaved families.

    In their statement, the school authorities announced, “Dear Eagle Family, over the weekend, we learned of a tragic accident in East Legon that deeply affected some families within our school community. Sadly, two of our students lost their lives, and two others are currently receiving hospital treatment.

    “As we mourn the loss of our beloved students, our thoughts and prayers remain with the affected families. In this difficult time, we have decided to close school early for the mid-term break, effective tomorrow, October 15, 2024.

    It further added, “To facilitate a smooth closure, school will close today at 1:30 pm. We kindly request parents to arrange for their children’s pickup by then. This adjustment demonstrates solidarity with grieving families and allows students and staff to process their emotions. The mid-term break will now run from October 15 to October 18, 2024. School resumes on Monday, October 21, 2024. May the departed souls of our lovely students rest in peace.”
