The record for the longest cooking marathon has been surpassed by Nigerian chef Hilda Effiong Bassey, also referred to as Hilda Baci.
Alan Fisher is now the official record holder, as confirmed by Guinness World Records (GWR).
“Alan Fisher (Ireland), an owner and chef of a restaurant in Japan, has broken two cooking-related Guinness World Records titles,” the statement read.
“First up, he’s claimed the longest cooking marathon (individual) after clocking in a time of 119 hours 57 minutes. That is more than 24 hours longer than the previous record held by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci.
“Alan then claimed the longest baking marathon (individual), with a time of 47 hours 21 minutes. The previous record holder was Wendy Sandner (USA) with a time of 31 hours 16 minutes.
“What’s even more impressive is that Alan took on both attempts back to back, meaning he was at work in the kitchen for over 160 hours with just over a day of rest in between!”

The record for the longest cooking marathon was first set in June by Hilda Baci.
But thanks to his accomplishments, Alan Fisher now holds these esteemed titles from Guinness World Records.
In an attempt to break the record, Hilda Baci cooked nonstop for several days, resulting in over 100 pots of food. Her initial objective was to complete 100 hours, but a small mistake about one of her rest breaks caused her total time to be deducted.
Meanwhile, a family statement claims that in order to keep Mr. Ibu alive, renowned Nigerian actor John Okafor—who is well-known in the country’s entertainment industry—had his leg amputated.
Mr. Ibu underwent seven successful surgeries, according to a statement posted by his family on his official Instagram page. Nevertheless, medical professionals recommended amputating his leg to preserve his life.
“As of 1 pm ,noon today, Daddy has gone through 7 successful surgeries but to keep him alive and increase his chances of recovery one of his legs had to be amputated.. This development has been hard on us all but we’ve had to accept it as Daddy’s new reality to keep him alive,” the statement read.
