The Black Queens of Ghana defeated Rwanda 5-0 at home to win the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifying series 12-0 overall after two legs.
The Black Queens finished the job at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday with yet another dominant performance. They had defeated Rwanda 7-0 in the first leg.
As a result of a hat-trick from Alice Kusi and goals from Evelyn Badu, Stella Nyamekye, and Stella Nyamekye, Nora Hauptle’s team ran riot against the unfortunate guests.
Similar to the first leg, Ghana got off to a fast start and controlled the opening exchanges before Alice Kusi’s deft finish gave them the lead after 22 minutes.

Four minutes later, the Spartak Subotica forward made it 2-0 by starting an attack and bursting into the penalty area to head the ball in.
In the 37th minute, Kusi scored her third goal after Evelyn Badu set her up to finish expertly from outside the penalty area.
Late in the first half, Badu switched from being a provider to a scorer when she pounced on a pass from Jennifer Cujdoe, dribbled past the goalkeeper, and fired the ball into an open goal.
Late in the second half, Nyamekye completed the scoring, giving the home team a comfortable victory.
With a convincing 12-0 aggregate win, Ghana advances to the next stage of the 2024 WAFCON qualifying matches.
To advance to the tournament proper, the Black Queens must now defeat the victor of the tie between The Gambia and Namibia in the following round of qualifiers.
