Former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has sent a strong warning to New Patriotic Party Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako known as Chairman Wontumi following his directive to remove all posters, banners, and other campaign materials.
All regional chairs in the 47 constituencies have been instructed by the NPP in the Ashanti Region to immediately take down any signs, banners, or other campaign materials connected to the late Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyerematen from their respective party offices.
The former flagbearer candidate, in the party’s opinion, is no longer a member; therefore, anything connected to him should be thrown away.
The NPP stressed that Mr. Kyerematen’s promotional materials are no longer relevant within the party offices as a result of his resignation in a memo dated September 25, 2023, signed by Chairman Wontumi.
“In view of Hon. Alan Kyerematen’s resignation from the party, all his posters, banners, flyers and paraphernalia at our party offices in all the constituencies must be removed with immediate effect. Once he has forfeited his membership, it is just right and fair that these items are removed from our offices” the memo signed by Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako read.
In a response while speaking on Mpu Ne Mpu on UTV, Mr. Alan Kyerematen said Chairman Wontumi was a small time businessman he saw some potential in him and pulled him to NPP in 2005.
According to him, when he met Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP was not interested in politics but he convinced and he later became a politician.
“When Wontumi met me, he told me he was not ready to do politics but he loves my vision and if I am contesting for NPP Presidential flagbearship then he will support me. When I realized he was courageous and serious I took to Bosomtwe constituency and made him a Chairman,” Alan Kyerematen revealed.
He added Chairman Wontumi is ungrateful after all that he did for him to rise through the ranks of NPP.
