Deputy Minister for Railway Development Kwaku Asante-Boateng has denied media reports that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia disrespected him.
He claimed that while he expressed his support for Alan Kyeremanten, he never claimed that the Vice President ignored him.
It was made clear by Mr. Asante-Boateng that he supported former Minister of Trade and Industry Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, and he berated the media for misrepresenting him.
The Deputy Railway Minister claimed that the way some camp members treated him during a campaign stop in the Asante Akyem region left a lot to be desired.
The Deputy Minister stated during the campaign visit that “when Vice President Dr. Bawumia came to Asankare, we decided to go welcome him and some members of his team, none of them greeted me when I extended a hand.”

Following this, the Asante Akim South Constituency MP emphasized that his criticism was directed at specific team members rather than the vice president personally.
He clarified that over the years, their relationship had been cordial and fruitful with Dr. Bawumia.
“I wish to put on record that I never said the Vice President disrespected me. Rather, I bemoaned the continuous disrespect shown to me by some members of his team.
“I wish to state categorically that I have a very good relationship with His Excellency the Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, and that His Excellency has on no occasion, shown any sign of disrespect to me, both in government and as a member of the NPP, throughout the period of my association with him, spanning from 2007 to date,” he stated.
To this end, the Deputy Railway Minister apologized to Dr. Bawumia for any harm resulting from the media’s wrongful portrayal of his remarks and urged other NPP members and Ghanaians to ignore these untrue reports.
