Adekye Nsroma’s hostess, Yaa Konamah, denied receiving a letter from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) regarding the alleged politicization of the prime-time entertainment program United Showbiz.
Yaa Konamah hosts UTV’s well-known morning program.
She claims that the NPP never sent UTV an official communication; instead, the party distributed the aforementioned letter.
In order to protest what they saw as the politicization of the program, a group of people who were allegedly affiliated with the NPP interrupted a live broadcast of United Showbiz.
The group asserted that one of the show’s pundits, A-Plus, tore apart a letter the NPP sent to them to address their concerns.
Despite the station receiving an apology, the NPP insisted that they had written to UTV to express their concerns regarding the alleged politicization of the program.
Yaa Konamah revealed that the management of UTV never received the alleged letter.
“That letter, they circulated it. Our management has remained silent on it, but you circulated the letter without giving it to the General Manager you addressed it to. Call Kennedy Osei Asante and ask him if he ever received the letter, he didn’t.
“And for your information, the leaders in the NPP came to apologise. In public, they attacked us and later came to apologise. The said letter, they never sent to the General Manager of Despite Media and UTV. And so, the section of the public saying we gave the letter to A-plus, we didn’t,” she said.
The hostess further clarified that although the alleged NPP’s actions were supported by the law, the hostess of the ShowBiz’s action did not prevent the pundit A-plus from tearing up the letter.
“Granted per adventure, Miss Gee (the hostess) didn’t alert A-plus that it was a confidential letter, but the letter was circulating in the public and what crime has he committed that he tore a letter belonging to someone,” she added.
She continued “Morally he didn’t show respect but there was nothing wrong, it wasn’t defamatory.”
