The Ghana Education Service (GES) has referred the dismissal of the 8 Chiana Senior High School students in the Upper East Region, for insulting the president of the land to the School’s Disciplinary Committee following a swift intervention by President Akufo-Addo. The students had initially been suspended before being expelled on Thursday by GES. Seven people have been confirmed dead with eight others in critical condition after sustaining several degrees of injuries when two Sprinter buses collided head on at Gomoa Antseadze on the Cape Coast-Accra highway today. Government has resolved to increase Base Pay on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) by 30 percent across board for the year 2023. The decision was taken following series of negotiations between government and Organised labour having previously ended inconclusively after several meetings beginning in November 2022. Over 1,200 flights were cancelled and 8,000 were delayed across the us on Wednesday morning after a computer glitch meant no domestic flights could take off from any airport across the US during a period of two hours which saw hundreds of thousands of passengers stranded at airports. The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), in consultation with the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA), has released the new insurable earnings for the year 2023 calling on the public to ensure compliance. According to SSNIT the maximum insurable earning for 2023 is increased from GHS 35,000.00 to GHS 42,000.00 as they say the upward review is in fulfilment of section 63(3) of the National Pensions Act 2008 (Act 766).
