The National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Assin North constituency, James Gyakye Quayson has won the Tuesday, June 27, 2023 by-election.  He won the contest as against Charles Opoku of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Bernice Enyonam Sefenu of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG). Mr. Quayson got 17,245 votes, representing 57.56 percent of the total votes cast. Nana Adu-Boahen, the Chief of Korase in the Ashanti region’s Ejisu municipal, has banned politicians from entering his community for any kind of partisan political activity. This comes after he decided to sell his cocoa field in order to earn cash for the community’s poor road, which connects them to Kwaso and other communities in the municipality. The Economic and Orgainised Crime Office (EOCO) of Ghana and the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) of Nigeria have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to combat transborder organized crimes. President Akufo-Addo has ordered board chairman of the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL), Paul Adom Otchere to stop the imposition of fumigation fees on visitors to the airport. Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) is fostering a close collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of Nigeria in the fight against cybercrime. Combining survey results from INTERPOL showed an increase of 132 per cent of reported cybercrime between 2013 and 2015, with an average of USD2.7 million from business and USD422, 000 from individuals stolen each year.
