Ola Michael has revealed that Shatta Wale, a Ghanaian dancehall musician, is ineligible to receive a diplomatic passport due to his personality and character.
In a recent social media post, the former French ambassador urged Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo to grant diplomatic passports to some artists who would help Ghana gain international attention.
Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, R2Bees, King Promise, Shatta Wale, and Black Sherif were among the musicians she mentioned as deserving of diplomatic passports.
However, Ola Michael stated on United Showbiz, which was hosted by MzGee yesterday, that given Shatta Wale’s contentious nature, it would be bad for him if he is given a diplomatic passport.
Even though he concurs with the former French ambassador’s remarks, he asserts that Shatta Wale should not be granted a diplomatic passport, which is only given to diplomats.
He countered that Shatta Wale could always grab a camera and start berating people. According to the French ambassador, it would be best for the nation to grant such a person a diplomatic passport.
Ola Michael went on to say that although some people might perceive him as disrespecting Shatta Wale, he is simply telling the truth.
He said: “MzGee we can’t give someone like Shatta Wale a diplomatic passport for him to turn round and come and sit on social media insulting people. Why are we being hypocritical?”
“I don’t want to disrespect him but I have to use him as example because he is not the only one who was mentioned but he is the only one that I can use as an example because he is the one that shows some character that is not right; or excuse me to say senseless.
“He is the one that is able to put on a camera and insult every elderly person. Come on! And you say that we should give him a diplomatic passport? What will be the sense in that?” he asked.
