THE ASHANTI Regional Police Command is hunting for the person who brutally attacked a 32-year-old man in the Ashanti Region’s Nkawie Panin.

According to reports, the victim, Ali Dawuda, was charged with stealing the suspect’s bunch of plantains, which the police only identified as Boakye.

At about 6:30 p.m on Saturday, an enraged-looking Boakye invaded Dawuda’s residence and, without warning, began butchering him with a sharp machete.

After killing Dawuda, the suspect reportedly fled the site of the crime and has since gone into hiding. He is being sought by the police to be arrested.

Dawuda, who was the victim of an unprovoked attack and suffered life-threatening injuries, is reportedly responding to treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

He was initially taken by ambulance to a local government hospital, but because of how quickly his condition was deteriorating, he was transferred to Kumasi’s Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

“On 21/01/23 at 1920 hours, police received call to the effect that a youngman has been brought to Nkawie/Toase Government Hospital with deep cutlass wounds on his head and right palm with blood oozing from it.

“On receipt of the information, police proceeded to the said hospital and met victim Ali Dawuda, aged 32, lying on a bed at the Emergency Unit with a plastered head and right palm responding to treatment.

“On the spot investigation revealed that today 21-01-23 at 1830 hours, one Boakye came to the victim’s house at Nkawie Panin and accused him of stealing his plantain.

“That the victim came out from his room and without any  word of provocation, the suspect attacked the victim and inflicted cutlass wounds on his head and right palm and after that bolted”, part of the police report said.

According to report, the police is using all means possible to enable them arrest the suspect for prosecution.
