A group of thirteen Ghanaians have embarked on a road expedition from Ghana to the UK.
They set out to drive from Accra to London, a distance of a mind-boggling 10,000 kilometers, and they intend to do so while taking it all in.
It’s anticipated that the daring group will touch down in London on Sunday, August 6, or Monday, August 7, 2023.
After arriving in Monaco, the team gave spoke in an interview BBC in the United Kingdom about why they had decided to take this extraordinary journey.
They explained that they had been motivated to attempt this adventure as a fun activity while also traveling to other countries after reading accounts of tourists visiting Ghana and other African countries.
According to Kwabena, leader of the 13 Ghanaian travelers from Accra to London by road, said they decided to take their adventure to the next level after touring most countries within Ghan and outside.
He added that they knew their adventure would drew the attention of the media, they would take advantage and raise some funds to help deprived schools in rural areas in Ghana.
Sharing one of the craziest experience in their journey, Kwabena said they were detained by some policemen in Mesopotamia who wanted to exhort them. According to him, the policemen apparently had no reason but they kept on bringing up one issue after another for over 7 hours.
He said the policemen claimed they had broken their traffic rules and they were going to detained them for 4 days.
Speaking about his favorite country to travel though, he mentioned Morocco and Senegal. According to him, they are clean and they have a very beautiful infrastructure.
He continued that a Moroccan police who spotted them in traffic was curious to know the trail of convey, when they revealed they were from Ghana, the police man further inquired if they were indeed from Abedi Pele’s country, he immediately gave them a special treat.
