Adisadel College student who was caught on camera punching a fellow student has been taken into custody by police in Cape Coast. He has been given bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, July 28 to give an explanation for his widely denounced deed.
According to Citinewsroom.com, he was detained on July 26 and warned for assault and endangerment before being released to the headmaster of the school to appear in court on Friday.
A heartbreaking assault on another student was seen in viral video that now has the suspect as a suspect. He left the victim defenseless by holding him by the neck with his inner arm before slamming him against a hard wooden bed in their dorm room. Instantly, the victim’s face began to swell.
The victim and his attacker were later suspended by the school, which infuriated Ghanaians because it didn’t make sense why the victim should be punished on top of the violence he had experienced.
The victim has been recalled from his suspension and is currently receiving medical care thanks to the intervention of the Ghana Education Service and other stakeholders. The suspect is currently in legal trouble.
A psychologist has been assigned by the school to give him the support and counseling he needs to recover from the trauma.
The assault took place on June 30, but according to school officials, the students didn’t tell them about it until recently.
The school’s Senior Housemaster has been placed on administrative leave pending the conclusion of an ongoing investigation.
Relatively, following the viral video of an Adisadel College student in Cape Coast assaulting a classmate over a cellphone sim, which resulted in the student’s suspension, Professor Stephen Adei has called on government to abolish the boarding system in public schools.
According to him, the current boarding school system is encouraging students to develop social vices.
