Kennedy Agyapong’s presidential campaign has received support from former GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi.
Nyantakyi recently urged delegates to choose Agyapong as the NPP’s flagbearer while he was in the Jirapa Constituency in the Upper West Region.
This comes after Nyantakyi helped the Assin Central lawmaker submit his nomination paperwork to run for president of the NPP.
Last month, Kennedy Agyapong went to the party’s headquarters to formally submit his nomination. He is getting ready to compete against front-runners Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Alan Kyerematen for the position of NPP flagbearer.
The lawmaker went with his dependable lieutenants to submit his nomination form, and Nyantakyi was one of the individuals who went with him to support his presidential candidacy bid.
The politician has known the former football official for a long time, and he fiercely defended him after he was implicated in investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ exposé five years ago.

It will be recalled that Nyantakyi was allegedly caught accepting cash gifts and buying influence in Anas’ “Number 12” exposé in 2018.
He was forced to resign as GFA President as a result, and he also lost his roles as a member of the FIFA Council and the first vice president of CAF.
Following the exposé, FIFA punished Nyantakyi with a lifetime ban and a fine of 500,000 Swiss Francs.
Additionally, he was accused of conspiring to commit fraud and of corrupting a public official, but later released on bail with some sureties.
Nyantakyi’s reputation has been harmed, even though his lifetime ban was later reduced to 15 years as a result of an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) three years ago.
The court case is still pending.
