A police officer by name COP Titus Avoka Azasiyande has been found shot to death with bullet wounds all over him at a barrier near Bia-Tano Forest in the Ahafo Region.
The dead body was found lying in a pool of blood with his service weapon right next to him in the early hours of Thursday, July 13, 2023.
Uncertainty surrounding the circumstances of Sergeant Azasiyande’s murder has been highlighted on the potential of foul play, suggesting that he may have been the target of unknown attackers, while others have blamed it on suicide.
Initial investigations indicate that Sergeant Azasiyande had been working at the checkpoint, which is situated near the Forest.
As part of usual security steps to uphold peace and order in the area, the officer was stationed there. An empty shell was reportedly discovered close to the location, according to police sources.
A lumber truck driver driving through the forest on the Kasapin-Bediako highway happened to come across the horrific scene.
When a police patrol squad arrived, they found Azasinyande’s service weapon nearby with the safety belt unbuckled. His cell phone, packaged food, and his Honda motorcycle were also discovered there, according to further investigations.
Police have been looking into the situation and have not yet identified any suspects. The body was subsequently retrieved by the police, who then took it to the Goaso Mortuary for an autopsy.
