In order to support James Gyakye Quayson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), former president John Dramani Mahama spent the last two days visiting communities in the Assin North constituency.
The pursuit of justice and development for the residents of the Assin North Constituency, according to Mr. Mahama, is the reason for his support of Gyakye Quayson.
Addressing some NDC faithfuls, Mahama described the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) as ‘masters of parading lies.’
The presidential candidate for the NDC urged the people of Assin North never to pay heed to the campaign messages of NPP who claim the electorates shouldn’t vote for Gyakye Quayson because he will soon be jailed.
However, the former president assured the people that Gyakye Quayson will never go to prison today or tomorrow.

Relatively, the criminal case against James Gyakye Quayson, a former member of parliament for Assin North, has been revealed to not bother him.
He claimed that the high court’s decision to hear the case every day would not affect his chances of winning the election.
“If they want, they can do so by giving me a bed to sleep in the court to enable me to attend the court but the New Patriotic Party will lose the by-elections,” he said.
“They can further give me a chamber to sleep in the court but Assin North will fall to me,” he noted.
In response to the court’s decision to hear his perjury case daily, Mr. Quayson, who is also the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) candidate for the Assin North by-election scheduled for June 27, 2023, made these remarks.
Speaking on Accra-based Joy FM he said “They can share money ahead of the by-election but the people will vote against them.”
