When Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia submitted his paperwork today, June 16, 2023, to run for the party’s flagbearership, he was surrounded by NPP supporters and young people.
Hundreds of NPP supporters surrounded him at the party’s headquarters in Asylum Down.
The Vice President’s arrival immediately caused a commotion at the NPP party headquarters.
The vice president pleaded with Ghanaians to pray frequently for direction and favor for him and his staff. In addition, he asked that prayers be offered up continually for the country as it chooses its leaders.
Dr. Bawumia spent time interacting with NPP supporters while he was at the NPP headquarters. He urged them to use the fervent support they were showing to vote for him on election day so that he could carry out the many brilliant ideas that would ultimately lead to an improvement in their lives.

On Dr. Bawumia’s behalf, prominent party figures like Vice Chairman Fred Oware and former National Organiser Sammy Awuku gathered the forms at the beginning of last month.
Alan Kyerematen, one of the front-runners, submitted his paperwork on Monday.
Over the past few months, Dr. Bawumia has had numerous conversations about his desire to run for the NPP’s flagbearer position.
He held meetings with the Majority Caucus in Parliament, the Party’s Council of Elders, other traditional and religious leaders, and other party members to discuss his plans to lead the NPP when President Akufo-Addo‘s term expires in 2025.
In a related news, the Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has urged the other New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer candidates to back Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
He claimed that the Vice President is unbeatable and that we should therefore support him.
According to him, since politics is defined by times and seasons, now is the right time for Dr. Bawumia to serve as the NPP’s flagbearer and then as president.
