In 2022, President Akufo-Addo turned the first sod on the Kumasi Suame Roundabout project.

After Roads and Highways Minister Akwasi Amoako Atta promised the Ashanti Region Four (4) interchanges, His Excellency turned the first sod.

Residents of Suame and its surroundings were ecstatic because they believed that another interchange could improve Kumasi’s roads, but that is a story best left untold.

Corrugated iron roofing sheets were later used to barricade the Suame Roundabout, indicating that work was about to start but the area was now deserted and overgrown with weeds.

Ali Baba Dankambary, a journalist based in Kumasi, has threatened to convert the Suame roundabout into a maize farm if the government doesn’t start building the promised interchange.

If the government continues to put off starting work on the project, he declared that he will organize the youth to plant maize in the area that is overrun by weeds to feed Kumasi Prisons.

Later, the listener-supported Radio One Morning Show Team removed all the weeds at Suame Roundabout under the leadership of Ali Baba Dankambary and Osei Kwadwo.

According to a report by MyNewsGh, Ali Baba said in an interview with Ambassador TV that if the government is unwilling to build Suame interchange for Asanteman, “We have no choice but to plant maize at Suame Roundabout to feed Kumasi Prisoners.”

“We mobilized our listeners to weed this place because we realized the Regional Minister, KMA boss, Suame MCE and those who are supposed do it are not ready to do it.

The place has become a hideout for criminals and close to Suame Market where some criminals are tormenting the lives of the traders”, he disclosed.
