Over the weekend, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia announced that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration would soon implement a “one student, one laptop” policy.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia stated that textbooks and other teaching and learning resources would be installed on the laptops to be used during lessons while speaking at an event in the Volta Region on Saturday.

He added that the initiative would be put into action by the end of 2023.

“If this country must move forward in the right direction, we must invest in education which is the only platform for preparing nation builders for tomorrow.

“The Minister for Education has also assured me that this year, we’ll start the replacement textbooks with laptops that have textbooks embedded in Senior high Schools”.

However, Ghanaians took to social media to criticize the Vice President for making such a lofty promise.

Many Ghanaians believed that the government should concentrate on providing the students with nutritious food and appropriate textbooks in light of the responses to the policy.

Some of the tweets about the promise are listed below.

tbh… Someone should advice Dr. Bawumia not to run for President. It looks like he has no idea of what is going on in the country… absolutely no idea… such a shame https://t.co/TRu641asaY
