After his interview with Marca in Spain became widely known, Ghanaian actor Yaw Dabo addressed the concerns raised by his age.
The Kumawood actor gave Wontumi TV an explanation of why he claims to be 24 years old during an interview.
Dabo claimed that he was about to make up his age when he realized that he was in Europe on a mission to raise money for his football academy, which required him to always act with integrity and truthfulness.
The actor claimed that he gained a lot of knowledge while traveling and that he had not anticipated that his interview with Marca about his age would “blow” and become widely known.
He claimed that it was clear from the video that he hesitated for a few seconds before responding that he was 24 years old when his interviewer, a journalist from the sports media platform Marca, asked him about his age.
“When the white man asked me about my age, I did not want to mention it. If you watched the video, I was a bit hesitant, I wanted to change my age but I reconsidered my decision because I was there to get help for my club.
“Some of these foreigners like truth and loyalty so I decided to say I am 24 years. The interviewer then said, ‘respect, respect’, and from there, we continued with the interview”, Dabo said.

Following an interview with a Spanish journalist following the first leg of the Champions League semifinal between Real Madrid and Manchester City, the Ghanaian actor became a worldwide trend.
At the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, the match, which featured goals from Vinicius Jr. and Kevin De Bruyne for each team, ended in a 1-1 draw.
The trending event, though, was when Yaw Dabo was interviewed by the Spanish media outlet Marca on its live after-game show following the game.
Dabo was animated and proudly displayed his support for Real Marid.
