Mr. Drew, a popular musician in Ghana, has pleaded with his followers and countrymen to stop referring to him as “Ghana’s Chris Brown.”

The Highlife and Afrobeats musician and dancer recently discussed the comparison between himself and the renowned R&B singer in an interview with Kojo Manuel on YFM.

The “Superman” singer said he would prefer to be known only as Mr. Drew rather than as a Ghanaian reincarnation of any particular person.

Mr. Drew claims that being associated with Chris Brown puts him under a lot of pressure and might tempt him to do things he actively tries to avoid.

“Lots of people call me Ghana’s Chris Brown but for me, I prefer they stop. I just want to be Mr. Drew and that’s all,” he expressed.

Mr. Drew emphasized his focus on developing his own distinct identity and making a bigger impact while acknowledging Chris Brown’s greatness and influence as an artist and personality.

He hopes to travel a similar path to success and global acclaim, but he prefers to go by Mr. Drew so as to avoid comparisons to Chris Brown.

“Chris Brown has already established himself in the world and on a very large scale, so that’s what I’m also trying to do for my career. But don’t call me Ghana’s Chris Brown. I want to be known as Mr. Drew,” he asserted.

Mr. Drew stated that he preferred to be regarded as a distinct artist, hoping to establish himself in the music business without having to deal with constant comparisons to Chris Brown.
