The National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership is allegedly plotting to remove Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, a member of parliament from Asawase, from the legislature following the party’s recent primaries.

Several NDC executives, according to the former Minority Chief Whip, allegedly conspired to get him elected as an MP.

Mohammed Muntaka also expressed his opinion that the recent change in the Minority Leadership in Parliament was a part of the larger agenda in a conversation with journalists following the NDC’s presidential and parliamentary primaries on Saturday.

“I can tell you, it was part of the strategy to get me out. No political person won’t say that wasn’t part of the strategy to get me out. Avedzi wasn’t contesting again, Haruna didn’t have any contenders and I was the only one who had a contender, so to have done that at that time was part of the strategy to get me out.

“But like I keep saying, God is not their village Chief, God doesn’t hate people because you hate them.”

On Saturday, May 13, 2023, Muntaka defeated Masawudu Mubarick in the race for the Asawase constituency’s parliamentary seat.

However, he won with 1,063 of the total valid votes cast, defeating his close rival Masawudu Mubarick, who received 735 votes.

Meanwhile, Alhaji ABA Fuseini, a member of parliament for the Sagnarigu Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has spoken out after losing the party’s recent parliamentary primaries.

He praised the competitor who had defeated him, Atta Issah referring to him as his son.

The MP thanked the chiefs and residents of Sagnarigu for their support during the previous three terms he served as MP in a message posted on Facebook.

He thanked Atta Issah, the victor, for assuming the baton in his place.

ABA Fuseini also expressed his gratitude to John Mahama, the National Democratic Congress’s chosen flagbearer, who triumphed with 98.9% of the vote.
