Dr. Kofi Kukubor, a policy analyst for Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, has disputed statements made by Mustapha Gbande, the deputy general secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), that all concerns raised by his team have been addressed.
Dr. Kukubor claimed that the party leadership has not consulted with his team about the incomplete voter register during an appearance on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen show.
He revealed that his team is drafting an order prohibiting the presidential primary process.
“I’m not aware of any address of issues so I’m a bit taken aback. How can issues be addressed where the person who raised the issue is not being informed that the issue has been addressed,” he said.
Following his team’s discovery of some irregularities in the voter list, Dr. Duffuor is requesting that the NDC postpone its upcoming presidential primary.
A voter’s list with only 220 constituencies, according to Dr. Duffuor’s team, is insufficient and unfit for an election.
Therefore, they have argued that moving the primaries will ensure impartial and trustworthy elections.
Relatively, Issah Fuseini, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Okaikwei North, asserted that the New Patriotic Party would triumph in the 2024 general election if former President John Mahama served as the NDC’s standard-bearer.
He asserts that the opposition party will only succeed in winning the 2024 elections, as predicted by the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU), if it offers a substitute.
“Not long ago, the Economic Intelligence Unit, they’ve been consistent in their predictions and projections for upcoming elections. Looking at their last report, they indicated that the National Democratic Congress stand a good chance. But their previous report also shows that NDC’s victory will only be possible if there is a change of the flagbearership
“With the current happenings, it seems that our old friend is most likely going to represent them again. And if they do that, I believe breaking the eight will be possible,” he said on Accra-based Peace FM.
