Prior to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential primaries, Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah, a former minister for trade and industry, has endorsed John Dramani Mahama.
John Mahama should be elected by party delegates to lead the NDC and subsequently Ghana in 2024, according to Mr. Spio-Garbrah.
Dr. Spio-Garbrah claimed in a statement that former President Mahama was the best candidate to guide the nation out of its current economic mess.
“The current worsening economic circumstances of our country under the failed Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration demands that individuals and groups such as the NDC adopt new and radical economic measures that would help to dramatically change the current sad global narrative of Ghana. Among many other elements of change, Ghana needs urgent and speedy rebranding, along with an IMF bailout.
“The hope in the message of a “Ghana Beyond Aid” has been swallowed up by the dark and brackish waters of our Galamsey Waterloo, the monumental tourist attraction of a National Cathedral, “Large Hole in the Ground”, and the flights of luxurious fancy and expensive Imperial-style jetting at the Presidency.”
Additionally, Dr. Spio-Garbrah urged the NDC leadership to implement innovative and radical economic policies that would help to significantly alter the depressing global narrative of Ghana.
In related news, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor’s campaign team, John Mahama’s main rival, has requested that the primaries be delayed.
They assert that there are numerous irregularities in the register and photo album that will be used for the primary on May 13.
A petition stating that a thorough review of the voter registers or photo albums for 220 Constituencies has revealed several discrepancies that render the register inaccurate or incomplete was sent to the NDC’s Electoral Commission and Election Committee on May 8, 2023, under the signature of Kofi Kukubor, Head of Research and Strategy.
Additionally, Samuel Koku Anyidoho has said over his dead body will he ever support or vote for former President John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking in a latest interview ahead of NDC primaries slated for 13th May, 2023, Anyidoho revealed that one of the reasons NDC sacked him was because refused to support Mahama.
