Martin Kpebu, a private attorney, claims that John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, a candidate for president, lacks the confidence to voice his disapproval of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration’s shortcomings.

He maintains that the former Trade and Industry Minister cannot be exonerated of the NPP administration egregious mistakes because he remained to serve in that position even after the economy of the nation began to deteriorate.

“The man is not brave enough to call a spade a spade. He is talking in circles and saying things indirectly. He should have been bold and say government has failed. If he cannot say the truth then that is the problem,” he said on TV3.

Martin Kpebu claimed that Mr. Alan Kyerematen’s resignation ought to have been announced earlier to show his opposition to the nation’s poor leadership.

While acknowledging that the candidate’s broadcast speech was enjoyable to watch, he said it was delivered too late in the day and was therefore rendered useless.

“He sat in the ship for too long. That was when I saw that Alan cannot lead this country. I don’t know who he was trying to satisfy but his advisors got it wrong. He sat in the ship and it sunk, once it sunk, it sunk with Alan. I can never vote for Alan because he didn’t show leadership,” he added.

The former Trade Minister resigned in order to focus on his campaign for the New Patriotic Party’s forthcoming presidential primary. Following his claims that the Ghanaian government system has shortcomings including a large size of government, corruption, and too much talk without enough action, among others, his address to launch his candidacy for president was harshly criticized.

Mr Kyerematen in an address to the nation after he quit the government called on NPP delegates to elect him as the flagbearer during the party’s primaries which is yet to be announced.

The presidential said he has measures which are in line with his transformational leadership soon to be experienced if voted for.

These policies he explained mainly focus on industry, agriculture, economy, governance, security among others and are under umbrella name, Great Transformational Plan (GTP) within a five-year period spanning 2025 to 2030.

The GTP he further explained will be anchored on 10 key pillars.
