Ras Kuuku, a fellow Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall musician, has eloquently argued why Black Sherif, a young music sensation, deserves to take home the top prize at the upcoming Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
The musician who has had the biggest impact on the music industry over the past year is given the Artiste of the Year award, the top honor at the VGMAs.
Ras Kuuku believed that the singer of “Oil On My Head” had a better chance of winning Artiste of the Year but that it would be challenging for him to win the Reggae Song or Reggae Artiste award due to the fierce competition in those categories.
“This time we have worked hard. Everyone knows about ‘3 3 in 1’. This year is not going to anyone who is not a Reggae/Dancehall artiste,” he revealed
RasKuuku, who praised Black Sherif for his success, said it was a result of his diligence and commitment to his craft.
“Let me tell you Black Sherif is winning the Artiste of the Year because he worked hard but when it comes to the Reggae side we [Ras Kuuku and team] worked harder,” he noted
RasKuuku claimed that he was close to taking home at least one of the honors for his album “3 3 & 1 (Miensa Miensa Ne Baako)” at the upcoming VGMA.
“For the genre, it’s Ras Kuuku who did best and you know it. It’s coming back to Puom. If not Reggae Artiste of the Year, Reggae/Dancehall song is coming to Puom”
