The National Cathedral project spearheaded by the Akufo-Addo administration will be rocked by an exposé that is expected to be released on Monday, January 16, according to Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for the North Tongu constituency.
Since the project’s commencement in 2018, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) politician has consistently criticized it.
He claims that his critique has prompted slurs, some of which they refer to him as, “naysayer,” and “anti-Christ.”
In spite of the government’s guarantees, the project’s financial support was “wantonly” taken from the country’s contingencies, according to the ranking member of the foreign affairs committee of parliament.
Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa claims that the ongoing project monitoring is what has prompted the slurs.
On Saturday, January 14, he stated to Paa Kwesi Asare on The Keypoints on TV3 that he will not back down from his criticism of the project since it is a “personal vow” of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and is not meant to result in the waste of public funds.
He emphasized that even the demolition of historical structures, such as the Scholarship Secretariat, where former national leaders received funding for their studies abroad, among others have come at a heavy cost to the nation.
He emphasized, “I am doing what is required of me under the Ghanaian constitution and, in fact, under the entire principle of checks and balances.
According to him, the exposé for today will be the “mother of all controversies” since the project began and will stun Ghanaians.
According to him, the project, which he refers to as a “galamsey site,” cannot avoid responsibility.
“This National Cathedral project has to be thoroughly investigated using forensic methods. The first thing we need to accomplish is that. The mother of all [National Cathedral] scandals will be outdoored,” he declared.
