John Mahama will prevail in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer race, according to Daily Dispatch managing editor Ben Ephson, but he will lose the 2024 general elections.
He believes Mahama will have a more difficult time winning the presidency.
Ephson stated in an interview with Kumaso-based Hello FM, “Mahama will win but it is 2024 that will be his problem. Mahama will win the NDC slot, he will win easily but 2024 is going to be his problem.”
He said that if Mahama runs against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2024, he will be making the wrong decision.
Prior to that, he predicted that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia would win the NPP’s nomination for the 2024 general elections.
Ben Ephson predicted that if Dr. Bawumia is chosen as the NPP’s flagbearer, he will go on to win the presidency in an interview with Onua TV.
“If Bawumia is made the flagbearer of NPP, he comes with two main advantages; that is many Christians feel comfortable with him even though he is a Muslim, and Muslims who used to vote for the NDC would switch and vote for NPP.
“The Muslims have now noticed that the NDC has taken them for granted for far too long because they don’t take Muslims for even running mate,” he asserted.
Ben Ephson went on to say that he would be shocked if the Vice President received less than 60% of the vote in the NPP’s flagbearer election.
Meanwhile, John Mahama has placed the blame for the recent controversy over a restroom dormitory at the Ghana Senior High School (GHANASCO) in Tamale on the government.
He claimed that the government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s neglected to invest in the infrastructure of senior high schools, which led to the current predicament.
Speaking to attendees at Nkwanta in the Oti Region, John Mahama claims that some schools have difficulties with feeding their students.
