Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has officially announced his intentions to become the next president of Ghana as he plans to run for the New Patriotic Party flagbearership race.
But, his announcement has been greeted with backlash from some Ghanaians after making it official via his Twitter page.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Ghana’s vice president, has remained mum about rumors that he wants to succeed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the country’s next leader.
Dr. Bawumia has not yet made a public statement about it, despite the fact that it has been out in the open and that prominent NPP members are running a concise campaign for the Vice President.
However, Bawumia provided the most definite indication to date of his plans to run for the New Patriotic Party’s 2024 flagbearership in a tweet he published on Tuesday, April 4.
And he did this by equating what appears to be his desire for the presidency with Matthew 19:26, a verse from the Bible.

Dr. Bawumia shared a photo of the Ghanaian flag to the left and the red, white, and blue flag of the NPP to the right, both of which read “It Is Possible” at the top.
Delivering a speech at the Christ Apostolic Church on 26 March 2023 held at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC), he said: “I believe that God has a destiny for Ghana. I believe that God will get Ghana to the promise land. With God, it is possible! With God, it is possible! With God, it is possible!”
Most the tweeps made clear to Bawumia that there no way they are going to vote him to become the next President of Ghana even if his party elect him the Presidential candidate for NPP in 2024 general elections.
