Jackie Appiah, a brand ambassador and actress from Ghana, has refrained from commenting on the LGBTQI+ controversy.

Jackie Appiah, a guest on United Showbiz on Saturday, April 2, stated that she preferred to avoid discussing the matter in order for the world to be at peace.

“Please I am minding my own business,” She said this to the panel’s collective howl of laughter led by host MzGee.

As several guests shared their opinions on the subject, which has generated a heated debate in Ghana, it dominated the conversation on the show.

When it came to sexuality, her colleague James Gardiner said he didn’t give a damn what people did.

“I really don’t care what people do behind closed doors or who they get into bed with…That’s their thing,” he said.

The debate of LGBTQI+ legalization in Ghana dominated headlines once again after US Vice President Kamala Harris visited the country and left a few days ago.

At a joint press conference with President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House, Kamala Harris emphasized the importance of extending and upholding the rights of the LGBTQ community.

She claims that the anti-LGBTQI+ bill is offensive to the nation’s minority group.

Meanwhile, Ghanaians descended heavily on President Akufo-Addo who failed to take a clear stance on the rising topic.

Following this, the Speaker of Parliament and NDC MP for Ningo-Prampram have publicly slammed Harris and Nana Addo over their comment on LGBTQI+ debate.

The Proper Human Sexual Rights & Ghanaian Family Values Bill, also known as the Anti-Gay Bill, is being proposed by Ghana’s legislative body.

Before Parliament recessed on Friday, March 31, the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee submitted a report on the Bill.

The anti-gay bill, which is being proposed as a Private Members’ Bill, is anticipated to criminalize some actions taken by Ghana’s sexual minorities and anyone who supports or promotes LGBTQ+ events.
