At the moment, Dr. Penelope Adinku holds positions as a senior specialist at the Cardiothoracic Centre in Accra, Ghana, and a surgeon at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
Adinku, a young female physician, made history when she became Ghana’s first female cardiothoracic surgeon.
She joined the group of Ghanaian women who were pioneers in their respective fields, including the late Constance Ama Emefa Edjeani-Afenu, who rose to the rank of Brigadier/Major General in Ghana.
