The betrayal that took place during the last week’s approval of the president’s nominees for ministers has been lamented by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) representative for Korle Klottey.
According to Zenator Rawlings, some NDC legislators betrayed the party by endorsing the ministers, and her late father Jerry John Rawlings would have been furious about it.
She claimed that the former president Rawlings would have likely challenged every NDC member of parliament to swear allegiance to Antoa, a revered deity in Ghana.
According to a Facebook post by Dr. Agyemang-Rawlings “on Friday night, I felt this deep pain that maybe it was perhaps better that he [JJ Rawlings] was not alive to witness what had happened to the NDC. But then again, I thought perhaps had he been alive he would probably have challenged all of us to go and swear on Antoa or dared us to take a lie-detector test!”

Alas! The Founder is no longer with them, she said, “but we have come too far to destroy our own legacy! We must course correct, immediately!”
“We need to return to the values and principles on which this party was built including honesty, accountability, integrity, discipline and commitment to our nation, Ghana,” the Klottey Korle MP added.
Dr. Zenator Rawlings claims that despite it being improper, she was forced to record her vote in order to demonstrate that she did not support the nominees as the party had instructed her to do because of the tension and suspicion present on the day of the secret ballot.
Some Ghanaians are angry with the Minority for approving the ministers’ entry into the already excessively large government.
Fiifi Kwetey, the general secretary of the NDC, former president John Mahama, North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and prominent members Prof. Joshua Alabi, among others, have all denounced the behavior of their members who betrayed the party by voting YES in the secret ballot to approve the nominees.
