On Thursday, February 20, 2025, nine representatives of the Volta Creative Arts Industry—Samuel Etornam Kwasi Lavoe (Lead Convener), Adatsi Brownson (Secretary), Elvis Bomasah (PRO), Seth Dellings Nyasorgbor (Patron), Richard Amegah (Member), Stephen Hlordze (Member), Krelov Franklin (Member), Jerome Afegbe (Member), and Mario Anku Valentino (Member)—paid a courtesy visit to the Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu to discuss key proposals aimed at restructuring and strengthening the creative sector in the region.

The delegation congratulated the Minister on his appointment before engaging in an extensive discussion on various pressing matters. Key topics included:

    • The establishment of an Annual Creative Arts Festival to unite all creatives and showcase their work.
    • Access to funding for creatives to support projects that contribute to economic and social development.
    • The need for a Regional Music and Photo Arts Studio to support artists while promoting cultural heritage and tourism.
    • The introduction of a welfare fund to provide financial and social support for creatives.

The Minister expressed his appreciation for the visit, acknowledging its importance and timeliness. He was particularly passionate about the Welfare Fund, encouraging the team to go ahead with its implementation and keep him updated.

He also assured the delegation of his commitment to restructuring the creative arts sector and promised to collaborate with the Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts to advance the proposals.

Additionally, the Minister highlighted the power of creative arts in promoting peace, resolving conflicts, and even preventing wars. He emphasized that creatives play a crucial role in shaping narratives, fostering unity, and driving social change.

As a token of appreciation, the group presented a photo art frame—a stunning drone shot of Ho, the capital city of the Volta Region, captured by Krelov Franklin. The Minister was highly impressed with the artwork, recognizing its significance in showcasing the region’s beauty and creative talent.

As a next step, the group has been tasked with compiling a comprehensive database of all creatives in the region for submission to the Minister’s office.

This is a significant step toward empowering Volta’s creative industry.
