Christian Atsu’s final rites are currently being performed at the State House in Accra. He was a former winger for the Black Stars.
The deceased Hatayspor player’s family, friends, football players, and prominent figures, including President Akufo-Addo, have gathered to pay their respects.
Marie-Claire Rupio Atsu, the late husband of Christian Atsu, has paid tribute to him.
She appeared to have maintained her composure as she entered the funeral home. Her temper finally snapped, though, when it came time to pay her respects.
She started reading the tribute and then started crying.
As Mrs. Atsu struggled to contain her tears, the late footballer’s sister, Christiana Atsupie Twasam, took over to continue the reading.
A sentimental Marie stepped back to wipe away her tears.

On February 6, 2023, a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck parts of Turkey and Syria claimed the life of the football player.
After an 11-story building collapsed on Atsu and others in Turkey, his lifeless body was pulled from the debris.
On February 19, 2023, on a Sunday, his body was transported from Turkey to Ghana.
