    Boeing And Nasa Cancel Starliner launch Again

    The launch of Boeing's crewed Starliner space capsule is called off yet  again : NPR

    Boeing and NASA faced yet another setback in their efforts to launch the company’s Starliner spacecraft.

    Scheduled Launch:

      • NASA astronauts Barry “Butch” Wilmore and Sunita Williams were set to lift off aboard the Starliner from Florida’s Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on Saturday at 12:25 p.m. ET.
      • This mission was crucial for Boeing to demonstrate that the Starliner can safely transport astronauts to and from the International Space Station (ISS).

    Reason for Cancelling the Launch:

      • The launch attempt was scrubbed with only 3 minutes and 50 seconds remaining in the countdown.
      • . Additionally, a separate problem was detected approximately two hours before liftoff related to ground instrumentation used to top off propellant in the Atlas V rocket’s upper stage, but that issue was resolved.
      • The specific cause of the hold is still under investigation.

    Ground Support Equipment Issue:

      • Officials decided to postpone the flight to assess a ground support equipment issue.
      • This computer controls operations with the rocket during the final minutes of a launch countdown. The specific cause of the hold is still under investigation.

    Significance of the Mission:

      • A successful crewed test flight is essential for Boeing to demonstrate the Starliner’s capabilities.
      • The Starliner’s crewed test flight is crucial for Boeing to demonstrate that the spacecraft can safely transport astronauts to and from the International Space Station.
      • If successful, this mission could pave the way for routine trips to the ISS, providing NASA with an alternative to SpaceX’s Crew Dragon capsule.
