Charlie, along with Jimmy Stafford and Rob Hotchkiss, formed the group Apostles in San Francisco. After Apostles disbanded, Charlie joined forces with Pat Monahan to form the iconic band Train. Their breakthrough came with the 2001 hit “Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me),” which reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

    The album “Drops of Jupiter” won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song and Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s). Charlie Colin’s unique bass playing and guitar work helped Train gain recognition in San Francisco and beyond. Unfortunately, substance abuse led to his departure from the band in 2003. His contributions to Train’s early success remain legendary.

    Charlie continued to play with other bands, including Slipknot and Puddle of Mudd. He reunited with Train’s co-founder, Rob Hotchkiss, in 2015 to form the band Painbirds.In 2017, he formed The Side Deal with other musicians.
