Biography
Steve Albini was born on July 22, 1962, in Pasadena, California, USA. His father was a wildfire researcher, and his family moved frequently before settling in Missoula, Montana, in 1974. Albini’s Italian American heritage traces back to the Piedmont region of Northern Italy. During his teenage years, he played in various punk bands, including Just Ducky and Small Irregular Pieces of Aluminum.
- Big Black: Albini founded the influential band Big Black, known for their abrasive sound and also post-punk experimentation. They released albums like “Atomizer” and the classic “Songs About Fucking” on the Chicago indie label Touch & Go.
