Hours before Bola Ahmed Tinubu was formally recognized as the victor of Nigeria’s February 25 presidential elections, the former president John Dramani Mahama was a member of a delegation that spoke with the incoming leader of that country.

Former African heads of state (West African Elders Forum), including Mr. Mahama, are in Nigeria to observe the elections in the continent’s most populous nation.

The other two leading candidates, Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of the main opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), were also visited by Mr. Mahama in addition to Tinubu.

On the same sofa as Tinubu at his Abuja home, Mr. Mahama was seen in one of the photos shared by former Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan.

Former African leaders Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone, Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya, Thomas Yayi Boni of Benin, and Fatoumatou Jallow Tambajang of the Gambia made up the group.
