Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for North Tongu, has received a warning from Nana Oduro Sarfo, a member of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Executive Council, to refrain from making petty political remarks.

Nana Oduro Sarfo, speaking with Accra’s Asempa FM, stated that Mr. Ablakwa should quit interfering with cheap political commentary and concentrate on his duty to impact policy making.

In response to Samuel Okudzeto Ablawa, the MP for North Tongu, exposing the Sports Ministry’s AFCON 2023 budget, Oduro Sarfo responded.

The NDC MP shared an official government document on social media, revealing that the nation had paid more than $8.5 million for the competition in Côte d’Ivoire.

Oduro Sarfo initially asserted, during his Tuesday appearance on Asempa FM, that the MP released the document as a diversionary strategy.

“He may have published the details to influence public discourse and deflect our focus from important issues. Maybe he did not like the fact that the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Primaries were peaceful, free and fair,” he said.

Or because he does not want Ghanaians to talk about the resumption of work on the National Cathedral.”

Pushing further, Oduro Sarfo requested that the MP concentrate on his primary mandate.

“He should concentrate on his job of passing bills in Parliament and stop engaging in small, small cheap politics in football. It is not the best,” he concluded.

Relatedly, broadcast journalist Saddick Adams has described the Ghana National Senior team as a crime scene which he says has been operated by few cartels from the GFA and few government officials.

He made this known when reacting to the whopping $8.5million budget for Ghana’s participation in the 2023 AFCON revealed by MP for North Tongu.

The Angel FM Sports Journalist reacting to the revelation described it as crime committed by officials of GFA to budget such huge amount for a tournament that the winner gets $7m.
