Finally, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also referred to as Chairman Wontumi, has left the Manhyia Palace.

He is at the center of accusations that he made disparaging remarks about Asantemen.

Chairman Wontumi has been placed on the Asante Kingdom’s most wanted list.

He had previously been called in for allegedly undermining Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene’s authority.

The Council requested that the NPP’s leadership make sure Wontumi shows up before it to address remarks he allegedly made during the screening of Manhyia South’s parliamentary candidates.

Over the issue, some regional party officers were led to the Manhyia Palace by the NPP’s National Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye, and General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong.

In a meeting held on Monday, January 22, 2024, at the Manhyia Palace under the direction of Justin Frimpong Kodua, Nana Kofi Owusu, the Chief Linguist of Otumfuo, gave the NPP instructions to present Chairman Wontumi to the Asanteman Council within a week.

Kodua informed the leaders that Wontumi was not well, “Nananom, we could not come with Chairman Wontumi because he has not been well.”

He begged for forgiveness, saying he was unable to produce the needed medical records.

Chairman Wontumi appeared before the Kumasi Traditional Council members at a crucial meeting, where they are still debating his fate, according to a video that GHOneTV posted on X.

Along with other notable individuals, Wontumi arrived at the palace with Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Stephen Ntim, and Justin Koduah Frimpong.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP miraculously regain his strength after being reportedly ill and admitted at hospital.

Just two days ago, a viral photo of Chairman Wontumi lying helplessly on a hospital bed following the directive of the Manhyia Palace chiefs for his appearance got Ghanaians talking.

However, to the surprise of many, Wontumi finally made appearance in the public when he was seen on a visit to some polling centers in the Kwabre East constituency during NPP parliamentary primaries which was held today.

He expressed confidence in the NPP’s ability to win the upcoming 2024 elections, despite reports that he was ill and had been admitted to the hospital.
