Former CEO of UT Bank, Prince Kofi Amoabeng gave personal financial insights and disclosed an unexpected choice he made in trying circumstances.
In an interview on Starr Chat with well-known radio personality Bola Ray, Kofi Amoabeng revealed he was forced to sell off his 8-bedroom apartment because he was broke.
According to him, his close friends were not in support of his decision to sell his house.
Kofi Amoabeng said, “When things got tough, I sold my 8-bedroom house, which I felt I built by mistake. I had the money, so I felt I needed these things. When I was selling it, my friends were saying, ‘But Kofi, people will say you are broke,’ and I said exactly, I am broke.”
The business mogul, also shared details about his unusual lifestyle choices. He claims to have worn the same watch and shoe for more than 20 years.
Amoabeng revealed that he had been wearing the same watch and shoe for the previous 20 years until recently becoming a brand ambassador for Caveman, which prompted him to change his accessories.
“I have been wearing the same watch and shoe for 20 years, but now I am the brand ambassador for Caveman so I have changed it,” he said.
Amoabeng emphasized the drawbacks of wealth, sharing his thoughts on how hard it can be to distinguish sincere friendships in the midst of material success.
“When you have money, a lot of people gravitate towards you. It’s hard to tell who your real friends are, and that’s confusing,” he remarked during the interview.
I use one shoe and one watch for over 20 years. I sold my 10 bedroom house because I was broke.
