The deadline for KPMG to finish its audit of the transaction between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilization Ghana Ltd (SML) has been extended by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 16, 2024, the new date is Friday, February 23, 2024.
This comes after KPMG asked the President to extend the two-week deadline that the company was initially given to complete the assignment.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Eugene Arhin, the Office of the President’s Director of Communications, stated that KPMG must submit its final report by Friday, February 23, 2024.
He said that President Akufo-Addo had also been made aware of the request from GRA, requesting his consent to let SML’s monitoring system remain in place even though its operations related to GRA have been suspended.
“The President has denied GRA’s request and has directed that the status quo, with respect to the suspension of the performance of the contract, should remain in effect until the completion of the audit and, subsequent, submission of the audit report by KPMG,” he added.
