Maurice Ampaw, a private attorney, has pledged to comply with the Manhyia Palace’s summons on Monday, January 29.
Following his earlier outburst, which attempted to disparage certain Ashanti region chiefs, the attorney was called in on Monday.
“We are going to talk law and no one is above the law. The chiefs could have just summoned me directly without going through Manhyia. Even if I decide not to work here in Kumasi, I can still fire from Accra. I will honour the invitation; you will clap for Lawyer Ampaw on Monday. I am going with the truth. Otumfuo supports the truth and I am going to lay bare the facts,” Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin on GhanAkoma was informed by attorney Ampaw.
In response to alleged offensive remarks made by the Ashanti Regional Chairman during a vetting process, Justin Frimpong Kodua, the General Secretary of the ruling NPP, appeared before the Asanteman Council on Monday at the Manhyia Palace.
In addition, attorney Maurice Ampaw was invited due to a disparaging statement made about Ashanti chiefs that was captured on camera and has since gone viral. He claimed in the video that, “some chiefs in the Ashanti Region are corrupt.”
He emphasized that he will make an effort to accept the invitation because he has respect for the Manhyia Palace.
“Everything that I have said, will be subjected to strict proof. I will not say I am sick. I am not sick. I will be there. I am going there happily, because I will explain everything to them. It’s been a while since I went there. I will wear white-white. I am ready,” he added.
Recall that within a week, the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), headed by Justin Frimpong Kodua, was instructed by Otumfuo’s Chief Linguist, Nana Kofi Owusu, to present the party’s regional chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Wontumi, to the Asanteman Council.
The directive was issued during a meeting at the Manhyia Palace on January 22.
