Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, the government’s spokesperson on security and governance, has made hints that Christian Atsu would receive a state funeral.
He mentioned that the government had spoken to the football player’s family about funeral arrangements.

Boakye-Danquah made this statement while participating in a panel discussion on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, where co-panelist and MP for Tamale Central Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed suggested that Atsu deserved a state funeral.

The government spokesperson responded by stating that the “government is in full support of all their funeral plans and arrangements.”
He added: “Government is working in line with that, I think it is a unilateral decision, government is working in line with that.”
Christian Atsu was found dead in the wreckage following the earthquake in Turkey on Saturday, and his death was officially declared.
After the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria two weeks ago, there had been days of active search.
Numerous people have sent their condolences to the football player’s family and loved ones as tributes have poured in from near and far.
Abedi Ayew Pele and his family visited the grieving family on Monday and even gave them some things.
On Tuesday, more former players visited the family of a deceased teammate to offer their condolences.

Former Black Stars players Baffour Gyan, Emmanuel Agyamang-Badu, and Haminu Dramani were also in attendance.
On Sunday evening, Atsu’s mortal remains arrived in Ghana. To welcome the body, a brief ceremony was held in the VIP area of the Kotoka International Airport.
