Chef Faila, a competitor for the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, has thanked Ghanaians for their tremendous support throughout her ten-day attempt to break the record.

From January 1st to January 10th, 2024, the chef worked 227 hours at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale.

Thousands of Ghanaians, celebrities, and public figures attended the event, including actor Yaw Dabo, former First Lady Lordina Mahama, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and many others.

Speaking on TV3, Chef Faila announced her intention to submit an application for a second record as the nation with the greatest amount of support for a Guinness World Record event.

“I’m thinking of filling another award for my people with the Guinness World Record to tell them that Ghana for the first time had the most supporting youth and adults come out to support something when it came to the GWR in the whole world so they deserve to be given a plague for that support,” she said.

Chef Faila has shared intimate details about her lowly upbringing and life outside of the kitchen.

Chef Faila, who graduated from the University of Development Studies, was formerly employed by the Bank of Africa in Tamale as a dedicated banker.

She compared her life as a banker to an example since she worked hard and did good brand marketing.

Chef Faila acknowledged that although banking was an ambition she pursued in memory of her parents, she could not deny her intense desire to cook, which is her actual passion.

Against this backdrop, she bravely decided to step down and pursue her real passion in cooking, even though she had made a substantial contribution to the Bank of Africa.

She described how it took three attempts for her resignation letter to be accepted, citing the fact that losing someone as dedicated as her at the bank would be significant.

She nevertheless went after her passion for cooking and began working as a chef without any prior experience or education.
