Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, the CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), has been made available.
On Wednesday, January 10, the Special Prosecutor detained Mr. Ofosu Nkansah, who is running for the Asante Akim Central parliamentary seat against Anyimadu Antwi, the incumbent, for allegedly giving money to delegates prior to the NPP Parliamentary primaries.
This relates to the money given to delegates at the Christmas celebrations in advance of the January 27 primary elections.
In an interview with Eyewitness News on Citi FM, Felix Amakye, the constituency secretary for the New Patriotic Party in Asante Akim Central, disclosed that Mr. Anyimadu Antwi, Nkansah’s political rival, had alerted the Special Prosecutor to the money distribution report.
Meanwhile, Mr. Anyimadu-Antwi, however, refuted the charge, claiming he was unaware of the arrest.
Felix Amakye was accused by Mr. Anyimadu-Antwi of spreading false information and favoring one candidate over another in an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu.
He stated that Felix Amakye had previously claimed on Facebook that his favorite candidate was paying delegates money, and he denied any involvement in reporting anyone to the OSP.
“I have no clue about what the secretary is alleging and it is about time for us to do the elections and the primaries are still around the corner and this is not a do-or-die affair. The secretary has taken sides with one of the contenders and has been speaking passionately and there is pain in the constituency speaking to delegates.
“If you are talking about reporting anybody to the OSP, I have no idea, but he [ Felix Amakye] is on record saying that my preferred candidate has been paying GH¢500,000 and promised to pay GH¢1 million to people and he said these things on Facebook.”
