MP of Adansi Asokwa, K.T. Hammond, appointed to the Department of Trade and Industry, has voiced repeated calls for the government to downsize.

The people of Ghana, including the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), have called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to immediately reduce the size of the government apparatus and cut spending to build confidence in the government. solutions to the economic challenges of the economy.

The charismatic council says the cuts in government staff and spending will show Ghanaians that the call to burden-sharing is not just words but is backed up by action. In a statement, the GPCC also called on the government and other stakeholders to work together to establish a national dialogue forum for regular consultation and engagement on relevant issues of national concern.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP), then in opposition, criticized the number of ministers in the government led by John Mahama.

They argue that this number could be reduced to 20 if the NDC government boldly cuts spending and saves the national purse.

K.T Hammond, when asked about the reduction in the number of ministers in the NPP-led government by the Appointment Committee in Parliament, did not give a direct answer.

He said downsizing ministers was unpredictable and potentially dangerous.
