The Bolgatanga Supreme Court has ordered the arrest of the supreme leader of the Mamprugu traditional region.
The arrest warrant for Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga was issued in a court order signed by Lord Alexander Graham.
This comes after Alhaji Seidu Abagre (Kulga II) was appointed as the new Leader of Bawku in the early hours of Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
The new leader was skinned at Nayiri Palace in Nalerigu, but shortly after his appointment was annulled by the government and other authorities.
Condemning the installation of the new chieftain of Bawku by the lord of the Mamprugu traditional region, Naa Bohugu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga II, the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, on Wednesday 15 February 2023, said that it was the The government still recognized Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II as Bawku Naba.

He added that the Bawku security apparatus had been instructed to arrest anyone posing as Bawku Naba other than Naba Abugrago Azoka II.
Under a new Supreme Court order, Mamprugu leader Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, who has appointed a new leader, will be arrested.
“Upon reading the affidavits of Lieutenant Colonel Ajibadeck Benjamin Baba (Retired) for an Order of Motion Ex-parte for warrant of arrest, and upon hearing Mrs Joyce Debrah (Principal State Attorney), Priscilla Lartey and Kofi Hayford (Assistant State Attorney) for the Applicant, it is hereby ordered that Warrant of Arrest is issued for her arrest of Alhaji Seidu Abagre (Kulga II) Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga (Paramount Chief of Mamprugu Traditional Area and His King Makers),” the order read.
