Ghanaians continue to mourn the sudden death of 72-year-old popular waakye seller, Aunite Muni, who passed away earlier this morning on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at the University of Ghana Medical Center.
Her death has moved many to tears as she was loved by many who purchased her delicious waakye.
In mist of mourning, an old video of Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia buying waakye from the popular waakye seller in Accra to test the QR code has resurfaced on social media.
Recall, in November 2020, Dr. Bawumia stormed the popular waakye seller’s food joint in Accra to purchase waakye from her during the nation’s introduction of the QR Code system, which is part of Ghana’s effort to become a cashless society that includes the unofficial sector.
The Vice President of Ghana and other government officials were shown in the video that has since resurfaced online stopping at a Waakye joint to buy and try the MMI.
Dr. Bawumia requested payment after purchasing the Waakye. He was shocked to see that The Waakye, which came in a disposable pack with wele, talia, and an egg, cost GHc60. When the price was mentioned, he let out a loud “Eii.”
